Pouches are the most common format for many food and FMCG products — and one of the easiest to get wrong. Gussets, seals, zippers and windows all change what is visible. We design pouches around their construction.

Who pouch packaging design is for

Pouch design is for brands packing snacks, namkeen, spices, flours, rice, dry fruits, coffee, tea, pet food and similar products in flexible packaging — whether you are printing a first run with a converter or moving from stickers on plain pouches to fully printed laminates.

  • Logos or text falling into seals and gussets on the printed pouch
  • Moving from stickered plain pouches to a printed pouch
  • Planning the colour count to manage rotogravure cylinder costs
  • Placing a window so it shows the product where you want it

Designing around the pouch structure

Every pouch type has its own no-go zones and visible areas. We work on the exact dieline from your converter so logos never fall into a seal, text never runs into a gusset fold and windows show the product where you want it.

  • Stand-up pouches with bottom gussets
  • Three-side and centre-seal flat pouches
  • Zipper, tear-notch and hang-hole placement
  • Transparent windows
  • Matte, gloss and spot-finish effects

Rotogravure and digital print

Large runs are usually printed by rotogravure, which uses one cylinder per colour — so the number of colours affects cost. Short runs can be printed digitally. We design with your print method and colour count in mind.

FAQ

Pouch Packaging Design — frequently asked questions

Do I need a dieline before design starts?

Ideally yes — your converter can supply it. If you have not chosen a converter yet, we can start on a standard size and adapt it to the final dieline.

How many colours should a pouch design use?

It depends on the print method and budget. Rotogravure cost rises with each colour cylinder, so we plan the colour count with you early.
